I spent my last night in Bangkok at The Westin Grande Sukhumvit, still in Sukhumvit Road, just a stone’s throw away from Four Points by Sheraton where we stayed the night before.
One of my best memories of this hotel, although I only spent one night here is the very comfortable Heavenly Bed® bed – a trademark bed all Westin properties are famous for!
I was staying in the room alone but the bed was huge, not to mention super comfy. It’s always difficult to get up the next morning with such beds matched with typical hotel blackout curtains!
Like the hotel we stayed the previous night, the bath tub was separate from the shower too. No wonder I saw many Japanese guests there (including one weird couple).
The location is in the center of a city center – Asok sky train station is practically on its doorstep. Bangkok traffic is not all hype! I have seen it in my very own eyes and have been caught in the middle of it. Trains are the better way to go around Bangkok so a hotel near a train station is a great option. There’s also a department store (Robinsons) attached to the hotel, 24-hour McDonalds beside it, a 7-11 store and lots of other convenience.
The downside? As a blogger who constantly needs PC time whenever possible, I’m quite disappointed (again) that there’s a price tag for the standard room WiFi at THB530 (US$18) per day.
And yet again, no pool time because of our tight schedule.
All in all, still a good choice for a city hotel in terms of service, comfort and location.
