Tomorrow is a big, big day, especially here in Dubai. The host city for the World Expo in 2020 will be announced in less than 24 hours. Dubai has been bidding to host the prestigious global event with rival cities, Ekaterinburg in Russia, Izmir in Turkey and Sao Paolo in Brazil.
It has been projected that the UAE economy will see over AED 100 billion in revenue and the creation of more than 200,000 jobs between 2013 and 2021 if Dubai will host one of the world’s biggest event. With the upbeat mood of the residents here, you can really feel everyone’s wish for Dubai to win.
Joseph Ghossoub, chairman and chief executive officer of MENA Communications Group (Menacom) let out a very strong statement: the world loses if we don’t win!
By the way, I’ve been to Turkey last week, where one its cities is in the running to host the Expo and I felt, there were less posters and billboards saying they support the bid. Unlike in Dubai where you can see and feel the spirit of everyone, locals and expatriates rallying behind the bid and posters, billboards, anywhere, everywhere!
Here is the UAE bid film:
Sources seem to indicate that Dubai has the best chance to win the bid to host the World Expo in 2020. We will know tomorrow for sure!
ADDED (I received this as a press release):
On November 28, should the Dubai bid for hosting Expo 2020 be successful, guests who visit Baskin-Robbins parlors in the UAE, between 1 and 3pm, will receive a voucher for one, free-of-charge, delicious ‘junior’ scoop ice cream!
Interesting. We might scream for ice cream tomorrow!
Hope our Dubai wins! 😉
