Five days more

p bday countdown

*The girl she in the picture drew actually said, “I think I’ll be having a party like this!”

Pristine wrote this a few days back. It’s not eight days to go now, it’s FIVE. And her mama don’t know what to do still. Where’s the panic button?

Thing is, Pristine’s birthday is on the 23rd, Thursday. After pressing the panic button, I made a quick list of what I’d cook and wish I can cook everything as quickly as I am writing it. Of course, the 4-tier cake she’s wishing won’t be included!

Also her birthday falls a day before Christmas eve. Since we had her in our life, we’ve had mostly leftovers for Christmas because it’s so uncool to spend so much time in the kitchen TWICE – one for her birthday and one for Christmas eve – then faint with exhaustion even before midnight rolls in. So yeah, I cook a big batch on the 23rd and refrigerate things.

On Christmas day, my mom would assist and cook some more but we all know that she’s not here, yeah?

Anyway, Pristine’s school already closed for the winter vacation so I am not sure how many of her friends are still in town. This is Dubai, 80%+ are expatriates who regularly go back ‘home’. Pristine have made a list of kids she’ll invite so I hope at least half of them turns up so she won’t be heartbroken.

Most probably I’ll just cook whatever child friendly menu I can, call the children, blow balloons and turn on the Nintendo Wii that day. Have to file for a half day leave too to make it all come true.

It definitely sounds like you’ve got your work cut out for you-I wish I could give you more then advice {like some help!}, but all I can say is just do the best you can-I’m sure Pristine will love and appreciate whatever you give her because you’re her mother and she knows you’re trying your very best to make her happy 🙂

  3. Our grandson’s birthday is November 23rd, so it always falls on or close to our American Thanksgiving and a lot of people are away to see their families. This year we waited and had his birthday party on December 11th when everyone was in town, but not too close to Christmas. It worked out very well. It’s probably too late for you to do that this year for Pristine, but maybe next year?!

  4. When it comes to birthdays parties, it’s never an easy task. Make sure to have plenty o cakes, chips and some veggies (such as carrots) for a healthy snack, and games. The rest it’s up to them 🙂
