Today my mom (who’s been living with us since 2007, taking care of Pristine after school) will go back to the Philippines for Christmas. It’s been two years since she’s been there (her choice). She’ll be back in early January so until then, at night when I go home from work, the house will look like how it was in the morning when we left. I tell you, it’s not nice. The morning dishes will probably be still there because as far as I know, we don’t have resident helpful dwarves in our house.
It’s like going back to our life in Japan. (We were living without any help and I used to cook with a toddler attached to my hips!)
By mid December when school is off, I will have to take Pristine with me every morning going to work because I have to drop her at a friend’s house near my office. Then I have to pick her up and we’ll go home together in the evening.
So, happy trip to my mom, despite the 8 hour layover in Malaysia, I am sure she’s glad to spend Christmas at home after all these years.

How wonderful that mom will get to see family and friends in her hometown! I know that it will not be just the help around the house that you will miss! 🙂
I am also sure that Pristine will miss her grandmother a great deal as I am sure they have developed a really close relationship, just like I did with my grandmother when she lived with us when I was young.
