In a few years, a huge entertainment complex will spring out of the desert and become Middle East’s answer to Disneyland. Dubailand is one of the biggest construction projects in the world, with two billion square feet of land consisting of 45 separate projects from a space exploration exhibition to full-size dinosaur enclosure.
Dubailand includes the biggest shopping mall in the world, The Mall of Arabia, several new five-star hotels, an indoor ski slope, a complex of sports stadiums and an ecological dome to grow vegetation in the heart of the desert.
There will also be an equestrian centre, aviation display, modern art gallery, water amusement park, multi-cultural garden complex, the largest zoo in the Middle East and much more.
Right now, the area is mostly barren with some construction workers appearing here and there. Here are some photos of taken during our random pit- stop in Dubai land:
A weird building:
A rocket ready to launch?
A tiger, I bet bored and hungry.
A pair of long-necked friends.
A panda and a girl basking in the afternoon sun.
Dolphins doing acrobats!
Some lush vegetation:
… and a little girl eaten by a dolphin!
*All animals except the tiger are fake. The little girl and the everything green in the photos are real.*
