Readers, I want your opinion. I wanted to post this to Twitter but the 140 character limit was driving me crazy. So here goes:
We went for grocery shopping on a Saturday afternoon, around 5:30 pm in a very popular hypermarket here in Dubai.
If you are in Dubai and live around Lulu’s Hypermarket, you’ll know that all cars lead to Lulu after 11 am in the morning or after 5 pm in the afternoon. Double that chaos on the weekends (Friday and Saturday).
All the free parking spots were full when we arrived (expected) so we opted to park in the paid parking area and luckily found two ladies approaching their car. We waited. So many other cars attempted to get that precious parking spot but realized we were there first.
So we waited after the two ladies went inside their car.
A minute…two minutes, three minutes passed. How long does it take to turn on the engine, adjust the gear and just go?
I went out and approached the parked car. The two ladies were nicely smoking while counting bills., i.e., taking their sweet time inside the car while outside, people are fighting for parking spots.
I politely asked them if they were leaving anytime soon and the driver snapped back: “Yes. You wait!”
What would you do? Let me know in the poll below!
When I get out of the grocery and find people waiting for a parking space, I hurry up load my groceries and go (even if I paid for the parking). The two ladies yesterday felt no pressure at all to go and give other people their parking spot, maybe because they think, “we paid for this!”.
We ended up parking elsewhere and when we got out of the car, we saw them fighting with another driver who was waiting for them to vacate the parking lot!
